JUGGLING BALLS
Found a footbag pattern, and modified it for this purpose.
Stuff you'll need: worseted weight yarn, a D hook, and dried beans (i used navy beans).
WORK AS TIGHT AS POSSIBLE
Notes: work in cont. rounds. inc= 2 sc in one stitch. dec= 1 sc over 2 stitches. Leave about an 8 inch tail at the start, after rnd 5 use tail to close up hole at the beg. do not cut off, you'll use it later for a marker.
RND 1- ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook.
RND 2- 2 sc in each sc. (12)
RND 3- (sc in next 2 sc, inc in next sc) around. (16)
RND 4- (inc twice over next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc) around. (24)
RND 5-(sc in next 3 sc, inc in next sc, sc in next sc, inc in next sc) around. (32)MAKE SURE RIGHT SIDE IS FACING OUT BEFORE CONT. WITH RND 6. BRING YARN TAIL FROM THE INSIDE TO THE SPOT AT THE END OF RND 5 AND BEFORE RND 6 TO MARK START OF RNDS.
RNDS 6-12- sc in each sc around.(32)
RND 13- (sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc) around. (24)
RND 14- (sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc twice) around.(16)STUFF ALMOST FULL OF BEANS
RND 15- (dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc) around. (12)ADD REST OF BEANS. YOU'LL WANT IT FIRM, BUT NOT SO MUCH THAT THE BEANS CAN'T MOVE AROUND. I'VE NOT MEASURED IT, BUT START WITH 1/2 CUP AND GO FROM THERE.
RND 16- (dec over next 2 sc) around. (6)DO A COUPLE OF SL ST TO CLOSE THE HOLE SO THE BEANS CAN'T ESCAPE. FINISH OFF, AND WEAVE END IN. CUT OFF MARKER TAIL.MAKE AS MANY AS NEEDED.
