Basic Hat Pattern
BASIC HAT
Modeled by my daughter Grace. When she was 4... she's almost 12 now... i need to update this pic, don't i?
You'll need worseted weight yarn, i used an I hook for the body, and a J hook for the brim. Weave in loose ends as they occur. Since you join at the end of each round, it's easy to make it any color combo you want, like striped or whatever.
Sizing notes: Go through rnd 3 for a newborn, rnd 4 for a baby, rnd 5 for a toddler, and rnd 6 for age 4 and above. If someone has a really big head, you could go a 7th round, just follow est. increase. You could also just forget the brim altogether, and then you'd have a skull cap. Play around, have fun!Join rounds with a sl st in top of beg. ch.
RND 1- ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook.join.
RND 2- ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch, 2 dc in each ch around, join.
RND 3- ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, join.
RND 4- ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, join.
RND 5- ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, join.
RND 6- ch 3, dc in same st as beg ch, 2 dc in next dc, (dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc) around, join.Body of hat
RNDS 7-?- ch 2, 1 hdc in same st as beg ch. 1 hdc in each st around, join. do this until hat reached desired depth.
BrimSwitch to J hook, sc in back loops only around, join, turn. rep until brim is 3 or 4 inches, depends on desired look For last rnd, sl st in both loops around. end off, weave in end.

There is not a soul who does not have to beg alms of another, either a smile, a handshake, or a fond eye. See the link below for more info.
